Antique ship's bell engraved BOTNIA 1891.


Lloyds Register of Shipping list the BOTNIA as a passenger and cargo steamship, which was built in 1891 by Lobnitz & Co at Renfrew. The ship had a gross tonnage of 1032 and a length of 209 feet.

ANTIQUE SHIP'S BELL

Antique ship's bell with cast / raised name BARTOLOMEO.

This very large ornately cast ships bell is also decorated with winged cherubs and stars, these symbols were synonymous with early mariners.

The BARTOLOMEO was an Italian Brigantine that was wrecked at Cape Sparte, Tangier on 24th Jan 1874. Height 13 inches / 33 cm, Diameter 13 inches / 33 cm.
